TechRadar Includes I Expect You To Die in "Best PlayStation VR Games 2020" Roundup →Today, Schell Games unveiled details on its next game I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy and the Liar, the long anticipated sequel to the most lauded, spy-themed VR puzzler on the market.
In I Expect You To Die 2, players return to the immersive world of espionage Schell Games created. After secretly surviving the events of the first title, players go deep undercover to explore the diabolical intelligence the Agency received regarding Zoraxis’ move for world domination. Players will embark on brand new missions to figure out what Zoraxis is up to, use their elite spy skills to retrieve vital intelligence for the Agency, and try their very best not to die mid mission.
“The community spoke, and we listened. We’re thrilled to continue building upon the success of I Expect You To Die and give fans an opportunity to test their wits against the traps Dr. Zor has in store,” said Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games. “We were blown away by the positive response we received for I Expect You To Die, and we’re excited to create another title that contributes to our legacy of immersive and engaging virtual reality experiences.”
The next installment in this franchise builds upon the success of the original game.
I Expect You To Die won many awards, including 2018 Official Selection for Cinequest VR Awards, the Immersive Perspective Awards, Indie MEGABOOTH 2017 Official Selection at PAX East 2017, and the 2015 Proto Awards. It has also been nominated for several prominent awards, including the 2017 D.I.C.E. Awards, SXSW Gaming Awards, and the Unity Awards. To date, the original game has earned more than $6 million in gross revenue across all platforms.
The company plans to announce the specific VR platforms for I Expect You To Die 2 at a later date. The game is set to launch sometime in 2021, and is available to wishlist on Steam.
“In developing I Expect You To Die 2, we wanted to improve and expand upon the mechanics and characteristics fans enjoyed the most in the original virtual reality game,” said Charlie Amis, Project Director for I Expect You To Die 2. “New and returning players will experience new puzzles in fully immersive environments, complete with an in-depth storyline that makes the thrill of being an elite, super spy a reality. We can’t wait for the community to play it.”
To commemorate this announcement, I Expect You To Die goes on sale for 20% off as the January 28th Daily Deal on the Oculus Quest Store. The game will also be on sale in an Oculus bundle that includes Schell Games’ 2020 VR sword fighting game Until You Fall from January 29 to February 5, 2021. Each game will be on sale for 20% off.
